Edgar Klehm

Edgar Klehm, 77 of Brenham, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center.

He was born July 24, 1931 to Minnie (Engeling) and Willie Klehm, Sr. in Brenham. On October 11, 1931, he was baptized in Brenham. He was confirmed in 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. He attended Wonder Hill School. On March 19, 1955, he was married to Rita Schulz in Berlin, Germany by Rev. Klemm. Mr. Klehm served his country in the Army from 1952-1973. For 20 years, he was employed by the Brenham State School in food service.

Mr. Klehm was preceded in death by: parents, brothers, Harry, Wilburt, Willie, Wilburn; brothers-in-law Willie Vollert, Sr., Guenter Kretschmer, Klaus Kretschmer; mother-in-law, Gertrud Schulz; sisters-in-law, Joyce Klehm and Ora Nell Klehm.

Survivors include: wife, Rita Schulz Klehm; son, Thomas Klehm and wife Alecia; grandchildren, Joshua, Christian, Stephen, Hosanna, Cherith, Jonathan, Bethany; sister, Gladys Vollert; sisters-in-law, Florence Klehm, Lillie Mae Klehm Gross; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; host of other relatives; special friend Cynthia Hall.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 4, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 3 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Mike Button officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edwin Grahmann, Ronnie Klehm, Willie Vollert, Jr., Larry Klehm, Glen Klehm and Steven Glaesmann. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Mueller, Ed Zelenka, Billy Barnes, Wayne Hobbs, Edgar Fricke, Leonard Roeske, Rev. Walt Schindehette and Wayne Bethke.

Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church or your charity of choice.
