Obituary
Edward Derwood Felton, 79, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018. Derwood was born on June 30, 1939, in Houston, Texas, to parents Bud Felton and Ruby Felton. He was raised in Houston and served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. Derwood worked as a long haul truck driver for numerous years. His work career continued at Cameron Iron Works in Houston, and also as a diesel mechanic at the Houston Ship Channel. He retired from Harris County Prec. 4 Transportation Department. Derwood loved living the country life and was associated for many years with the Salt Grass Trail Ride and the Chappell Hill Cow Pokes. He was also a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
Derwood is survived by one daughter, Dona Lea Felton of Houston; two sisters, Arlene Papke of Houston, Tx, and Debra Wappler and husband Keith, of Houston, Tx. He is survived by two grandsons, Brian Dean and Joshua Felton, both of Coldspring, Tx; one granddaughter, Shauna Jackson and husband Dustin, also of Coldspring, Tx; one great granddaughter and three great grandsons. Derwood also leaves behind close family friends, Victor Murski and his son Carl, and daughters Madelyn and Becca, of Chappell Hill, Tx. In addition he leaves two nieces; Theresa Schlichter and Natalie McElhany.
Derwood was preceded in death by his wife Artis Felton; son, Scooter Felton and wife, Tammie Felton; father, Paul Frizzell; mother, Ruby Frizzell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, at Brenham Memorial Chapel, Brenham, Texas, with Pastor Wayne Law officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 22, at Brenham Memorial Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m.
