Obituary

Edward John Rozacky, age 79 years, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020.

Edward John Rozacky was born December 22, 1940 in Granger, Texas to Frank Raymond Rozacky, Jr. and Matilda Gorubec Rozacky. He attended Saint Cyril-Methodius Catholic School, grade 1-8. He was a 1959 graduate of Granger High School. At the age of 14, Ed began working as an automotive mechanic at his Uncle Hubert Gorubec’s garage. Later in Houston, he worked at City Auto Supply and then at Pete’s Automotive Supply, where he became manager.

On October 28, 1961, Ed married Amalie A. Gola at St. Mary’s Church in Taylor, Texas. In December 1965, he joined the U.S. Army and served in 4th Infantry Division in South Vietnam. He received the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle). Upon discharge in 1967, Ed returned to the automotive repair business in Houston, where he established Performance Automotive and Air Conditioning. In the 1970’s, the family moved to Brenham. Here he established Brenham Auto and Air. Later, he was employed by Tarlton Supply Company and from there he retired.

Ed was involved with his children in 4-H, FFA and Washington County Fair. He was the “go to” person when anyone needed help with repairs or building projects. Ed was “The Rock” of his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. As his family grew over the years his greatest joy came from sharing the knowledge of those loved hobbies with nephews and grandsons. He was hard working, loyal, faithful and honest. Ed was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by parents, infant brother Frankie Joe Rozacky, brothers-in-law Joe Daniel “J.D.” Shirocky and Frankie Gola, sister-in-law Mary Ann Urbanek and husband Allen.
