Edward Wensel

Edward Wensel, 80 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Edward was born January 23, 1943 in rural Austin County, Texas to Rubin and Alma (Flentge) Wensel. He was a graduate of Brenham High School. On October 29, 1966, he married Marilyn Hrnicko at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Edward served in the National Guard, doing basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon returning, he worked at Brentex/Mt. Vernon Mills. From there he retired with 47 years of service.

Edward enjoyed working cattle and gardening. He regularly met with his Morning Breakfast Group. Most of all was the importance of family. He loved to watch son and later grandsons play baseball and enjoyed the after.

He was preceded in death by parents Rubin and Alma Wensel, son Lance Wensel and, sister-in-law Carol Girouard.

Surviving family includes: wife Marilyn Wensel; son Aaron Wensel; grandsons Colten Wensel and Carson Wensel; brothers-in-law, Gary Hrnicko, Freddie Hrnicko and wife Brenda; and two nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday August 30th, with family present form 5-7 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 31st at 3 pm also at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Deacon Al Prescott officiating.

Memorials are requested to the American Leukemia Society.
