Dear Elizabeth, Dabney and Graham,

What a special woman your mother/wife was! I have so many funny memories of the jelly fairy doing a drop off at my parents house and her speeding off without a chance to chat. She loved hearing what everyone was doing and was always wanting to visit and catch up.

I know you will miss her dearly but there is peace in knowing she is back to her old, funny self in Heaven catching up with so many who went before her. My thoughts have been with you. With sympathy,
Sarah

To the family I send my condolences and pray everyone will somehow find a way to heal. Though my heart is filled with pain no one can explain but God as I cared for Mrs. Luhn for almost three years and the time we shared no one can give it back to me.
The long talks we had as she shared so many things with me questions no one probably can answer but me. I keep every word she shared close to my heart.
A bond between two people that no matter what could not be broken. As I sat at your bedside expressing how much I loved and cared for you, you would stare back at me as to say I love you too.
Words can never explain how I feel about Mrs luhn but I thank God everyday for sending me her way.
I love you,

Dear Graham, Elizabeth and Dabney,

You all are surely in my thoughts, as I go through many fun and fond memories of time I got to spend with Betty. She was always a joy to be around, so uplifting and caring.

I first got to know Betty when we worked on the annual staff at Marshall High School. I think that she was our best ad salesperson with her bubbling personality and gift of gab. I was happy to join her on outings and let her do the talking! : )

Then Betty and I shared happy times at the Pi Phi house at UT Austin, and sometimes would ride from Marshall to Austin together. Then we both ended up in Houston with children who were close in age, so we had more times to laugh and learn together.

I appreciated Betty's phone calls, always cheery and short -- she'd ask about me and my family and then sign off often before I could get in my questions. : ) I have missed talking to Betty, and I am sad that I'm not able to say goodbye. I loved and admired Betty very much.

With sympathy and fond memories,
Joan

May all of you find peace and strength from our Lord
and Savior at this most difficult time in your lives. I too was in school for 12 years with Betty
and have great memories going to her house for meetings while in Blue Birds. I always thought she
was most beautiful inside and out. Our sympathies
for your families.

I met Betty in 1983, as I was teaching at the time at River Oaks Baptist. She lent me some baby items for my baby girl, who was born in February. Betty was always so friendly and kind to me. I did not see her again for perhaps thirty years.

One day, she recognized me (after all those years, I say that Betty had a rare talent for people skills). I was taking my husband to treatment at the Medical Clinic of Houston. My husband was fighting cancer, and Betty mentioned that her body was "falling apart." I did not ask for details, as I presumed she was going through something similar to what my husband was. Also, I might mention, that Betty was in a wheel chair at the time, which makes doctor's visits a little easier on the family. I was concerned, but felt I was not in a position to pry.

I saw her once again and that was perhaps two years ago. Again, I was amazed at her ability to recognize me. What a personality! Betty was remarkable. I will remember her sense of humor and her common introduction, "My name is Betty Luhn, you know, like crazy as a loon."
