Ella May Leseman Luedemann, 89, of Brenham passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born March 30, 1919 to Ed and Matilde “Tillie” Fischer Schulze at their home in the Cedar Hill Community. She attended school at Cedar Hill. Ella May was baptized on July 6, 1919 and confirmed March 28, 1934 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. In her early years, she worked for Dr. Fred Hodde. On December 17, 1941 she married Lawrence Walter Leseman. To this union a daughter and son were born, Patricia Elaine and Doyle Ray. They made their home in the Greenvine Community until October 1947, at which time they moved to Elgin, Texas. In 1956 they returned to Greenvine. After the death of her first husband, Ella May was married to Willie Luedemann on November 28, 1991. They enjoyed life together.
Ella May was an active member of Greenvine Baptist Church for the many years she lived in that community. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also a seamstress and cared for children. Ella May especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Ella May is survived by daughter, Patricia “Pat” Williams and husband Rodney of Brenham; step-children, William Luedemann and wife, Jeanie of Brenham, Peggy Boecker and husband, Calvin of Brenham, and Barbara Bruhn of Laurel Hill, Florida; grandchildren, Shawn and Lana Williams of Rogers, Arkansas, Christie and Dr. Steven Golla of Lockhart, Charlie J. and Jerri Leseman of Del Valle, Doyle Ray Leseman, Jr. of Alvarado; step-grandchildren, Darrell and Dottie Bruhn, Dalton and Ann Bruhn all of Florida, and Diana and Johnny Kern of Louisiana, Dewayne and Christie Boecker of Brenham, Donna and Troy Carroll, Deidra and Rusty White all of College Station, Alan Luedemann of St. Louis, Missouri and John and Shelly Luedemann of Houston; nine great-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; brother, Emery Schulze and wife, Helen of Brenham; sisters-in-law Elsie Schulze and Ruth Schulze of Houston, Evelyn Schulze of Brenham, and brother-in-law Reuben Kelm of Brenham along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ella May was preceded in death by her son, Doyle Ray Leseman on September 11, 1981, husbands Lawrence Leseman on May 11, 1982 and Willie Luedemann on January 23, 2003, brothers Ernest Schulze, Edwin Schulze, Erwin Schulze, sisters Edna Kelm, Evelyn Gaskamp Cherry, Erna Wegner, Elaste Gaskamp, and step-son-in-law Charles Bruhn.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will be Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Alan Knuckles officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Shawn Williams, Steven Golla, Charles Leseman, Doyle Ray Leseman, Jr., William Luedemann, Ron Leps, Gary Schulze, Jerry Schulze and Alan Schulze.
Memorials may be given to Greenvine Baptist Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
