Obituary

Elton William Pieper, 84, of Brenham passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004 in Trinity Care Center.

Elton was born March 24, 1919 in Kenny, Austin County, Texas to Charles and Betty Rosenbaum Pieper and attended New Wehdem school. He was baptized July 31, 1919 by Pastor H. C. Poehlmann and confirmed March 25, 1934 by Pastor M. C. Hoermann at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, and in the same church, he was married to Elsie Marie Tiemann on December 9, 1945 by Rev. Senff. They engaged in farming and ranching.

Elton served the U.S. Army during World War II in the 90th Division Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European Theater. Elton was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem where he served as chairman, treasurer, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He was also president of the local Farm Bureau, served on the A.S.C. Board and president of Pleasant Hill school.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Betty Pieper, sisters Sadie Loesch, Mildred Hopman, Bernice Zajicek, mother-in-law and father-in-law Louis and Matilda Tiemann.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 58 years Elsie Pieper; sons Milton R. Pieper and special friend Nancy Lambert and Bobby Pieper and wife Bonnie; grandchildren Megan Pieper, Audrey Pieper and Jeana Edwards; brother Charlie Pieper and wife Elzada; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Bernice Emshoff; also nieces and nephews.

The Pieper family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2004 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2004 in St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem with Rev. Sid Bohls and Rev. Willard Rother officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Ray Hopmann, Willie Warzecha, Weldon Emshoff, Fred Kollmann, Dale Tiemann and Donnie Hopmann. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Nail, Troy Hanath, Ralph Tiemann, DeWayne Jasinski, James Lehmann, Larry Tegeler, Robert Loesch, J. D. Miller, Bernice Buddenberg, Ellen Henske and Leonard and Loraine Roeske.

Memorials may be given to the building fund at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.
