Obituary

Elvera (Schulze) Janner passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 89 on July 15, 2019.

Elvera was born January 20, 1930 in Washington County to Edwin and Emma Witt Schulze. She was baptized on March 2, 1930 and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor Paul Gogolin. Elvera went to Alamo, Rocky Hill and Prairie Hill schools of Washington County. She married Milton (Mickey) Janner on December 17, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor Paul Gogolin. She and Milton lived in Houston for 30 years before moving back to Milton’s homeplace in Brenham in 1981. In Houston, Elvera was a homemaker and active in the Texas PTA, receiving 2 Life Membership awards. She was also active and held several positions in the Lutheran Womens Missionary League at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston and served 8 years on the Kennedy Evangelism Program, sharing her faith in Christ as her personal Savior to many people.

In Brenham, they initially were members of Grace Lutheran Church, where Elvera was active as well in their LWML and held various positions. In 2007 they moved their church membership back to St. John Lutheran Prairie Hill, where Elvera was active in Ladies Aid, the Altar Preparation and the Quilter’s group where she pieced many quilt tops and then helped quilt them for Lutheran World Relief.

Elvera is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Emma Schulze, husband Milton Janner, son Jeffrey Janner, granddaughter Dana Janner, grandson Joel Janner, great-grandson, Lyndon Palmer, sister Verlyn Finke, brother-in laws Herman Weiss and Herbert Janner.

Survivors include daughters Connie Rohde and husband Danney, Donna DeLeon and husband David, son Doyle Janner and wife Daphne all of Brenham, daughter-in-law Meg Janner; 10 grandchildren, Kristin Limke, Lisa Haney, Kalen Perez, David DeLeon Jr., Lori Palmer, Chad Rohde, Derek Janner, Kiffen Glass, Matthew Janner, Dustin Deleon; and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Duvall and husband, Clyde; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Onis Finke, Gloria Janner, LaVerne Weiss, Charles Janner and wife Kay, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Brazos Valley Hospice and AMA Healthcare, especially Rena Burns, for their loving care during her illness.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Services for Elvera Janner will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
