Obituary

Esther Lorene Cheshier Kober Horn entered into eternal rest on May 11, 2018. Ironically this was the date of her deceased husband, Will L. Horn’s birthday.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 14th at 11 a.m. in Wesley Brethren Church with Pastor Michael Groseclose and Pastor Bobby Cheshier officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.

Lorene lived a long life, and was blessed to have reached the age of 98 years and 5 months. She was born on November 30, 1919 in Willow, Arkansas to Willie and Dora Cheshier, the fourth oldest of 11 children. Lorene grew up in rural southern Arkansas. She recalled to us on many occasions how she had to help with farm chores, housework, babysitting younger siblings, and at times had to pick cotton (which she absolutely hated!) She graduated from high school in 11 years, and then went to live with a married cousin in Little Rock, Arkansas. Shortly afterwards she got a job as a nanny for a sweet family, who Lorene affectionately called Mom and Pop Martin. They were instrumental in helping her get thru Cosmetology School. She began her long career as a licensed beautician at the age of 20. Her career was instrumental in her life because she met her two husbands through her customers.

In 1947 she married Rudolph (Rudy) Kober, and was blessed with two daughters, Elaine and June. Then in 1966 she married Will L. Horn, and was blessed to become the mother of David, Keith, Mickey, and Sharon.

Lorene was a strong, independent, and Godly woman who worked hard to provide for her family. She finally retired from being a hairdresser at the age of 90. At the time of her retirement, she was only working two days a week. This was primarily because she had outlived the majority of her customers.

Lorene was preceded in death by: parents; daughter, June Martin; first husband, Rudy Kober; second husband of 24 years, Will L. Horn; five brothers, Doyle, James, Dwayne, Jack, and Jimmy Cheshier; four sisters, Hazel Cheshier, Jean Burford, Anita Tucker, and Virginia Jackson.

She is survived by: her children, Elaine Koehn (Mike), David Horn (Patti), Keith Horn Sr. (Diana), Mickey Horn (Debbie), and Sharon Coursey (Donald); grandchildren, Wade Koehn, Brent Koehn (Kristen), Rebecca Davidson (William), Lavera Albeck (Bill), Jeff Haney (Janet), Lorissa Dominguez, Keith Horn, Jr. (Krystal), William Horn (Tamara) , and Jennifer Martin; great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Kylie Koehn, Joshua and Aaron Fisher, Willie and Reanne Haney, Brent, Laurel, and Kendell Dominguez, Courtney, Branden, Colten, Camille, Payton, Aiden, Bailey, and Noah Horn; one brother, Bobby Cheshier (Carol); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Buddy Cheshier, Michael Cheshier, Jeff Cheshier, Wade Koehn, Brent Koehn, and Eric Reinheimer.

Memorials may be made to the Wesley Brethren Church, 8000 FM 332 Brenham, Texas 77833.
