Obituary

Floreen (Peters) Schulze, 85, of Brenham, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Floreen Peters Schulze, was born September 29, 1938 in Kuykendall Community of Washington County to Albert Louis and Annie (Dreyer) Peters. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran of Wiedeville. On February 26, 1956, she married Herbert C. Schulze, Jr. also at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. Herbert and Floreen lived a short time in Houston but later settled in the Phillipsburg area to raise their four children. Shortly after, they became members of St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem where Floreen remained a member.

Floreen committed tireless hours over the course of 30 years to Blue Bell Creameries. She was dedicated to her craft and to serving her community through her marvelous work. She was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way possible. Floreen was the embodiment of tenacity and perseverance within the workplace, community, and her home.

Floreen loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She loved watching the Houston Astros and visiting with her family. Floreen was an excellent cook and was known for her exceptional sweet tea and dill pickles. She was a light in the room, and she always shared a contagious laugh. She was a beacon of hope during the hardships and made everyone feel like they always had a place in her heart and her home. She and her sisters were always quick to get together and would spend hours laughing at the old times they spent together.

Her loving family include: daughter Sharon and husband James Stolz; sons Kenneth and wife Cindy Schulze, Joel Schulze, Scott and wife Mary Schulze; grandchildren Brian and wife Penny Stolz, Matthew and wife Jill Stolz, Kevin and wife Bridgette Schulze, Kayla and husband Tim Schneider, Cody and wife Stephanie Schulze, Ray and wife Elena Merkley, Joseph and wife Chelsea Merkley, Caroline Schulze and Gretchen Schulze; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deloris Mikeska, Annie Mae Buerger, Gladys Mondrofsky, Carolyn Kubeczka, Elois and Johnnie Eickenhorst; along with 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Dorothy Wiesepape and Delores Schulze; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Floreen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Herbert C. Schulze, Jr.; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herbert O. and Ruby Schulze; sisters and brothers-in-laws: Edna and C.H. Petzolt, William "Sonny" Peters, Doris and David Siptak, Eldon Mikeska, Glenwood Buerger, J.C. Mondrofsky, Antone Kubeczka; sister-in-law Doris Kuhlmann Daniels; brothers-in-law: Howard “Butch” Schulze and James Wiesepape; nieces Patricia Petzolt and Susan Kuhlmann; and nephew Keith Eickenhorst.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 19 from 3-5pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20 at 10:30 at St. James Lutheran Church New Wedhem, 10362 New Wehdem Rd., Brenham, Texas.

Pallbearers are Floreen’s nephews: Eldon Mikeska, Jr., Matthew Buerger, Mark Eickenhorst, Carl Wiesepape, Craig Wiesepape, and Jason Schulze.

Honorary pallbearers are Floreen’s great-grandchildren: Andrew and Bryson Stolz, Steelie and Stevie Kate Stolz, Quinn, Ryder, and Rylie Schulze, Ty and Lily Schneider, Madison, Eli, Ava Grace, and Kacie Merkley, and Hadley and Karsyn Schulze.

A special thanks to all of those that assisted us including, but not limited to, her son Joel Schulze for his endless care for home while she was still at home, Dr. William Loesch, Aurbrey Eikenhorst, Washington County EMS, Baylor Scott and White in Brenham and College Station, and Kruse Village Rehab.
