Obituary

Florence Evelyn (Kmiec) Jezierski, surrounded by her loving family, passed into the arms of God on October 8, 2012, in Bellville, Texas. She was born at home in the Sauney Stand Community of Chappell Hill, the middle of 15 children, to Hedwig (Kaliszewski) and John Kmiec, on October 29, 1923. Her father nicknamed her Bape, and she is still called that to this day. Florence attended Armstrong Public School and received her sacraments at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. In 1942 she married Johnnie Jezierski, Jr., who was in the Navy during WWII. She went to work in Houston and became a “Rosie the Riveter”, helping in the war effort by working at Houston Ship Building. After the war they settled in Chappell Hill, raising their 5 children. Florence was a hard worker, a farmer working with her children in the cotton fields while dragging her twins on the back of her cotton sack, a rancher, homemaker, and storeowner. She also worked at Brenham State School for 10 years. She loved her church, working in her garden, her flowers, Chico the dog, scrabble, dominoes, Bingo, loved her children, loved her grandchildren more, and adored all her little great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Fabian Jezierski and wife Rita of Montgomery; her daughter, Patricia Novak and husband Jerry of Chappell Hill; her twins, Jeanette Cribbs and husband Galli of Sugar Land, and Johnnie Jezierski, III and wife Melody of Waller.

She was so proud of her 11 grandchildren: David Jezierski and Lana, Davin Jezierski and Shannon, Mike Novak and Laura, Dr. Gwen Cureton and Shawn, Nikki Novak, Rachael Ashe and Bo, Cody Nelson, Joseph and Ashley Jezierski, Amanda Jezierski, and Galli Cribbs, Jr.

She brightened up the room with her smile when visited by her 13 great grandchildren. She was Big Busia, Grandma Jezierski and Grandma with the moo cows to: Katelyn, Hannah and Emma Jezierski, Ethan Jezierski, Kathleen, Dane and Weston Novak, Coral, Chloe and Coryn Cureton, Ryder Nelson, Ava and Westen Ashe, and another due in December.

Her surviving siblings are: Johnnie Kmiec of Cypress, Anzelma Janczak of Spring, Lucy Sebesta and Christine Skweres of Houston and daughter-in-law Patsy Jezierski.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jerome J. Jezierski, and siblings T.J., Stephan, Phillip and August Kmiec, Antonia Ognowski, Veronica and Magdalyn Kmiec, Mary Jaworski and Gertrude Sobczak.
