Obituary

Fred H. Kroll, 82 of Brenham, died August 12, 2006 at the family residence.

Mr. Kroll was born March 18, 1924 in Waco, Texas to Fred E. Kroll and Henrietta (Strangmeier) Kroll. He was baptized in the Evangelical Reformed Church in Waco by Joseph Jaworski and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waco. He attended St. Mark’s Lutheran School and Waco public schools. Mr. Kroll served in the Army Air Force as a radio mechanic and military police. On October 8, 1946, he married Fern Elaine Knight in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham; Brenham Fire Department, where he was a fireman and fire marshall; and the American Legion.

Mr. Kroll worked at Cook’s Sheet Metal, Brenham Roofing, Schubert’s Sheet Metal and Faske’s Jewelry. After retirement, he worked on clocks at his home. He enjoyed tending to his cows and horses and watching great-grandchildren play.

Survivors include: his wife of 59 years Fern Kroll; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Morris Faske of Brenham, Karen and Richard Andresky of Huntsville, Kristene and David Ottmer of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Karen Kroll of Moscow, Russia; grandchildren, Melissa and Bart Seilheimer, Shannon and Steven Robertson, Deanna Landon; step-granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Dave Dickson of Austin; great-grandchildren, Karli Seilheimer and Lane Robertson; sisters and brother-in-law, Ellamae and Clarence Lumpkin of Crawford, Texas and Juanita Smith of Wimberly, Texas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Pierce of West Valley, Utah, Lois and Joe Brainich of Kent, Washington and Norman Shapiro of Kent, Washington; and a very special friend, Gus Korthauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, brother Marvin Kroll of Waco, brothers-in-law James Smith and Don Pierce, one sister-in-law Kay Buchwald and one niece Cheryl (Lumpkin) Stovall.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating.
