Obituary

Fred Allen Schultz, Jr., 62, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Fred was born on June 17, 1960, at Camp Pendleton, California to Fred and Nancy Schultz. Fred was baptized at St. Peter’s Church in Fallbrook, California and later confirmed at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas.

Fred graduated from Sharyland High School in Mission, Tx in 1979. While in high school he played football earning second team all-district honors. He was also an active member of the FFA. Fred attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Tx and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanized Agriculture. He was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets, Squadron Six. He was also selected as “Best Drilled Sophomore” as part of his outfit and was a member of the Fish Drill Team.

Fred worked in the “Nails and Sticks” business AKA retail lumber and hardware. He also more recently worked in ground water operations. He continued his involvement with the Corps of Cadets and could be found barbequing for his outfit on fall football weekends and supporting his outfit in other events during the year. He was a founding member of the Squadron Six Legacy Group. He was also a member of the Corps of Cadets Association, Association of Former Fish Drill Team Members, and Association of Former Students.

Fred was an avid saltwater fisherman who grew up fishing neat Port Isabel, Tx with his father, grandfather, and many cousins. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing “42”, and many fishing trips with family and friends to the South Texas Coast. He was especially proud of his children and supported them through little league, football, soccer, and band. He was very proud of the young adults they have become and their successes.

Fred is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Mattie Schultz, and Milus and Dorine Welch and his father and mother in law, Berry and Amanda Hugo. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Brenda Hugo Schultz, children Cameron Schultz of Riviera, Tx, Brittany Schultz and special friend Justin Hockett of Navasota, Tx and Emily Schultz of College Station, Tx. He is also survived by his parents Fred and Nancy Schultz and sister Deborah Schultz of Austin, Tx. Other family members include sister-in-law Karen Mantey and husband Mark. Nephew Justin and wife Hannah Mantey and daughter Ivy Beth. Niece Cortney and husband Orry and son Charlie Randermann, all of Brenham, Tx. Also surviving are numerous cousins and a host of friends.

A visitation for Fred will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, with family present from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel located at 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church located at 1104 Carlee Street, Brenham, Texas.

Fred’s honorary pallbearers are his buddies from Squadron Six class of 1983. Current and former members of Squadron Six are also recognized as special friends.
