Obituary
Frederick (Fritz) Charles Herbst II, 76, a resident of Brenham, TX went to be with his parents and brother on the evening of July 26, 2025.
Fritz was born December 15, 1948 in Borger, TX. He was the first child of Joseph and Isabel Teubel Herbst. The Herbst family moved around a bit while Fritz was a child. They spent time in South Louisiana, Kansas, and then back to Borger.
He graduated high school in Borger in 1966 and started at FPU. He met Janice Drake in 1967 and they married in 1969. Shortly after their wedding the new Herbsts moved to Houston for Jan’s job. Fritz graduated from University of Houston in 1971 and received his MBA from Houston Baptist University in 1990.
He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Isabel Herbst and his brother Henry Herbst.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice Drake Herbst; sister Katrina and husband Randy Jarvis; daughter Kristi and husband Chad Kincaid, son Karl and wife Mary-Katherine Herbst, daughter Karen and husband David Tass; niece Sarah and husband Jeff Maxcey, nephew Joe and wife Kirsti Jarvis; grandchildren Katie Herbst, Gareth Kincaid, Grace Herbst, Emily Herbst, Karis Kincaid, Joey Herbst, Carter Tass, and Caitlyn Tass; great nieces and nephews, Luke Maxcey, Lauren Maxcey, Kinsley Jarvis, Liam Jarvis; and many longtime friends.
Fritz loved his family, friends, books, travel, and was an avid competition pistol shooter.
He found success in numerous positions, but his pride and joy was his family. He said once that he lives to take care of them. He did that well, and he and his bride were able to make each others’ dreams come true.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the kind and caring team at Hospice of Brazos Valley. We will be eternally thankful his last days were peaceful due to the wonderful nurses and aids taking care of him.
If you would like to make a donation in his memory please consider Bread Partners of Washington County, First United Methodist Church of Brenham, the Nancy Carol Memorial Library in Brenham, or any local food pantry, church, or library.
There will be a memorial service at First United Methodist Church of Brenham on Friday, August 8th at 11 AM.
Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833. 979-836-3611 Share condolences at www.brenhammemorialchapel.com.
