Obituary

Gary Phillip Schroeder, age 45, passed away May 31, 2021.

Phillip was born July 16, 1975 in Houston, Texas to Gary and Lynn Schroeder. He was baptized October 26, 1975 and confirmed May 7, 1989 both at Advent Lutheran Church in Houston. Phillip was a 1993 graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School. He received his Associate Degree in Business Management from Tyler Jr. College.

Phillip loved rooting for the Astros, Dallas Cowboys and all UT teams. He was very proud of his Southern, Texas and German heritage. Phillip always wanted to be a farmer and cattleman. He realized his passion upon the death of his grandfather. Phillip enjoyed working cattle, fencing, and shredding. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially if he had companions. He also enjoyed sitting on the deck watching cattle and the weather. Phillip’s big heart and smile led him to always help family and friends at any time or in anyway. Uncle Lip’s favorite pastime was taking his younger cousins riding through the pastures and letting them help drive. Phillip loved being with his nieces, helping them move to new places and having spirited conversations. Phillip and Matt worked well together and loved talking sports. Phillip and Krista had a very tight and loving relationship. Phillip also enjoyed working in the kitchen at home or at Kinsmen Lutheran Church breakfasts, congregational meetings and Thanksgiving Feast.

Phillip is preceded in death by his grandparents, two aunts and an uncle.

He is survived by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Krista and Matt Dankert; nieces, Kennedy and Kylie Dankert; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Phillip will be dearly missed, but his loving and generous spirit will live on in all of us.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Kinsmen Lutheran Church (12100 Champion Forest Houston, Texas 77066) with services to begin at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church or charity of your choice.
