Gene Maynard

Gene Maynard, 79, of Burton, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Benedict Zientek, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Gene was born December 23, 1938 in Belton, TX to parents Perry and Dora (Clark) Maynard. On February 10, 1962 he was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brenham. Gene’s passion was being the owner/operator of Cactus Restaurant in Burton.

Survivors include wife, Shirley Parrish; children, Karen Winkler (husband Robert), Dennis Maynard, Sheri Rich (husband Billy), James Maynard; step-son, Doyle Parrish (wife Latisha); grandchildren, Heather Huff (Kyle), Ashton Randermann (Andy), Zach Brittain (Tiffany), Christopher Gene Maynard, Lindsey Pagan, Jamie Pagan, Shalynn Maynard (Will), Dennis Maynard, Monica Maynard, Christopher Allen Maynard, Tiffanie Fritz, Bradley Rich, Thomas Maynard, Jamie Joann Maynard, Korey Parrish(Jessica), Jordan Parrish, Wesley Parrish; sister, Billie Jasinski and faithful friend “Cooter”,

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles and George.

Pallbearers will be Doyle Parrish, Wesley Parrish, Christopher Gene Maynard, Bradley Rich, Zach Brittain, Luis Salgado and Mike Janecek.

Honorary pallbearers are patrons of the Cactus Restaurant.

A memorial fund has been set up at Brenham National Bank, Account # 65280610 for funeral and medical expenses.
