Obituary

Gloria Joswiak, 78, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27th from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 28th at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Vincent Romuald, SRC as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Gloria was born October 1, 1939 to Herbert M. and Gertrude (Fischer) Faske in Giddings, Texas. Her family moved to Brenham in 1941, and she later became one of the first students to attend Grace Lutheran School. Gloria graduated from Brenham High School and attended Blinn College. On July 11, 1959, she was married to Earl Joswiak. Gloria worked for the Washington County State Bank and her family’s business, Faske’s Jewelry. Later, she became a homemaker who cared for her children and family. She was very active in her church and community. Gloria was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and organist. In addition, she served on the Brenham Independent School District school board from 1978-1989. Gloria was a member of the Brenham Fortnightly Club, and held many local and district positions. She volunteered and was involved with: HOST at BISD, Brenham State School, Bread Partners, Red Hat Society and Brenham Choral Society.

She was preceded in death by: parents, husband, sister Cindy Kolkhorst, grandson Justin Joswiak, niece Angela Kolkhorst, brothers-in-law W.B. “Bobby” Joswiak, Jr. and Richard “Skippy” Joswiak.

Surviving loving family: sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Joswiak, Timothy and Cindy Joswiak, Mark Joswiak; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Richard Harbin; grandchildren, John and Megan Joswiak, Jacob and Brittany Joswiak, Madison Harbin, Katelyn Harbin; great granddaughter, Iylee Joswiak; siblings, Herbert and Diane Faske, Morris and Kathy Faske, Carroll “Butch” and Betsy Faske, Carol “Sally” and Kenneth Blum; brother-in-law, Bobby and Mary Kay Kolkhorst; sister-in-law, Shirley Joswiak; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: John Joswiak, Jacob Joswiak, Drake Faske, Warren Blum, Bart Seilheimer and Steven Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Nancy Carol Roberts Library and Bread Partners.
