Goldie Mae Parker

Goldie Mae Parker, 73 of Brenham died peacefully at her residence on Saturday, September 27, 2008 with her family by her side.

Goldie was born October 31, 1934 to Clifford and Nellie Marie (Folk) Stroud at Truman, Arkansas. She was married to Garland Robert Parker who preceded her in death in 1983. Goldie was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and reading, especially LOUIS L’AMOUR books. She attended Zion Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; son Clifford Parker; brothers James Stroud and Paul Stroud.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in law Ray Parker of Brenham, Bill Parker and wife Sharon of Burton, Steve Parker and wife Elizabeth of Illinois, and Bobby Parker and wife Jackie; daughter and son-in-law Barbara Thompson and husband Jerry of Marion, Illinois; brothers and sister-in-law Russell Stroud of Brenham and Earl Stroud and wife Carol of Jonesboro, Arkansas; sisters and brothers-in-law Bernice Coursey and husband Robert of Katy, Pauline Hudgens and husband Floyd of Arkansas, and Jery Joplin of Atlanta, TX, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friend Joyce Boeker.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Staunton, Illinois.
