Grace Evelyn Hazelwood

Grace S. Hazelwood passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, at the home of her son in Waller, Texas with family by her side. Grace was born December 22, 1919 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Arthur and Mary Craft Shoemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Maynard Hazelwood, and her three sisters. Grace was a loving and devoted wife and mother. They were long time residents of Zachary, Louisiana but later moved to Brenham, Texas to be near their children. She and her husband were dedicated Christians and active members of First Baptist Church in Zachary and Brenham.

Grace is survived by her four children and their spouses, David and Judy Hazelwood of Atlanta, Texas, Don and Cheri Hazelwood of Waller, Texas, Valerie and Keith Compton of Nashville, Tennessee, and Bruce and Sue Hazelwood of Brenham, Texas.

Her grandchildren and their spouses are Stacey and David March, Carol and Allen Sutton, Micah Hazelwood, Daniel and Natalia Hazelwood, Joshua and Lindsey Hazelwood, Halee Hazelwood, Ellen Compton, Zachary and Megan Hazelwood, and Callie Hazelwood. She has five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held in Brenham at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
