Grace L. Ancone

Grace Ancone, 86 of Brenham, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness in her home Wednesday, May 14, 2008 surrounded by her loving family.

Grace was born May 4, 1922 to Ernest and Lucy Gigante Benevento in Brooklyn, New York. She was baptized June 4, 1922 and confirmed at Brooklyn, New York. Grace attended school at Coney Island. On September 2, 1940, she married the love of her life Jack Anthony Ancone in Brooklyn, New York. She was a full time mom and homemaker, where she took pride in raising a loving and respectful family.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham. Other memberships included Golden Age Club, Elk’s Lodge, Moose Club and Rocking Chair Drifters RV Travel Club, where she served as president and with which she visited 48 states and Canada. She loved dancing, cooking, planting, crocheting, playing bingo and cards, but her greatest joy was being with her family.

Preceding her in death were parents and children Ernest, Robert and Donna Ancone.

Her family includes: husband, Jack Ancone of Brenham; children and their spouses, Michael and Dallas Ancone of Moorpark, California, Jack D. and Laurel Ancone of Brenham, Steve and Cindy Ancone of Burton, Jacki and Craig Steele of Brenham; grandchildren, Lori Brosseit, Kathy Correll, Lori Williams, Christy Baldwin, Michael Ancone, Alexandrea Ancone, Wendy King, Giacomino Ancone, Steven Ancone, Ashley Steele, Matthew Steele, Carli Steele, Joseph Steele; great-grandchildren, Tanya, Michelle and Lexi Brosseit, Amber Hayes, Ryan, Kollin and Wyatt Correll, Garrett Williams, Hannah and Noah Baldwin, John and Ashleigh Moore, Gia Grace Ancone; sister Louise Benevento of Brooklyn, New York; extended family, Candi Smith, Bonnie Ancone, Johnny Annarumma; and very dear friend Dorothy Cruce.

Viewing will begin Friday morning, May 16th. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. with rosary being recited at 7 p.m. by the PCCW in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. David Ivey as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Ancone, Steve Ancone, Giacomino Ancone, Michael Ancone, Matthew Steele, Joseph Steele and Ashley Steele. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack D. Ancone, Craig Steele, Alexandrea Ancone, Carli Steele and Steve Ancone, Jr.
