Harper Emmett Muery, age 91 of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
Harper was born in Gay Hill, Texas to Walter and Lillie (Boedeker) Muery on April 2, 1929. Harper served in the U.S. Navy. On January 13, 1951, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jahnke in San Diego, California. He retired after 35 and half years of employment with the City of Houston Traffic and Transportation Division.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill where he served as their treasurer, Gay Hill Shooting Club and Local Union 66 IBEW. Harper’s hobbies were golfing, gardening and playing cards.
Survivors include daughter Donna Muery and Linda Garrett of Canyon Lake; son Bryan Muery and daughter-in-law Vickie of Canyon Lake; two grandchildren Briana Muery and Chase Muery and wife Betsy; great grandchildren Carter Ann, Mason, Preston and Taylor; special friends Cindy and Carl Weems.
Harper was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, half-brother C. E. Muery and brother Delbert Muery.
The family requests that during visitation and funeral services everyone wears a mask and social distances.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m., in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at Gay Hill.
Pallbearers will be Chase Muery, Brian Smith, Robert Schwartz, Briana Muery, Kevin Stueber and Chris Stueber. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Weems, Robert Smith and Charles Esterak.
