Herbert C. Schulze, Jr.

Herbert C. Schulze, Jr., of the Phillipsburg Community in Washington County, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2006, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, after a brief illness, with his wife of 50 years, Floreen, by his side.

He was born in Washington County on September 4, 1934, to Herbert O. Schulze, Sr. and Ruby Westerfeld Schulze. He was baptized October 21, 1934, and confirmed on April 10,1949, in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor P. Gogolin. On February 26, 1956, he married Floreen Peters in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville by Rev. Raymond Wolf. Memberships included St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem and Grand Lodge of the Order of Sons of Herman Lodge #6. Herbert owned and operated Brenham Radiator Shop for 46 years.

Herbert loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He loved playing dominos, watching the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets along with many other sports.

His loving family include: wife Floreen Schulze; mother Ruby Westerfeld Schulze; daughter Sharon and husband James Stolz; sons Kenneth and wife Cindy Schulze, Joey and wife Terry Schulze, Scott and wife Mary Schulze; grandchildren Brian and wife Penny Stolz, Matthew Stolz and friend Rachel Oates, Kevin Schulze and fiancé Bridgette Snow, Kayla Schulze, Cody Schulze and fiancé Stephanie Maass, Caroline and Gretchen Schulze; step-grandchildren Ray Merkley and friend Elena Mason, Joseph and wife Chelsea Merkley, Janessa and husband Aldo Zamora, Stephen and Breana King; sister Dorothy and husband James Wiesepape; sister-in-law Delores Schulze; aunt Erna Finke; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Deloris Mikeska, Edna Petzolt, Doris and David Siptak, William “Sonny” Peters, Annie Mae Buerger, Gladys and J.C. Mondrofsky, Carolyn and Antone Kubeczka, Elois and Johnnie Eickenhorst; along with numerous relatives and friends.

His father, Herbert O. Schulze, Sr., sister Doris Kuhlmann Daniels and brother Howard “Butch” Schulze, father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Annie Peters, brothers-in-law Glenwood Buerger, Charlie H. Petzolt and Eldon Mikeska, Sr. preceded him in death.


Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2006 from 6 – 8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Wehdem with Pastor Jon Siemsglusz officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Wiesepape, Craig Wiesepape, Jason Schulze, Dustin Schulze, Howard Kuhlmann, Jr., David Siptak, Jr., Eldon Mikeska, Jr., Matthew Buerger and Mark Eickenhorst. Honorary pallbearers are all grandchildren.
