Herbert F. Boehnemann

Herbert F. Boehnemann, 88 of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Trinity Medical Center.

Mr. Boehnemann was born January 24, 1919 in Burton, TX to Carl F. and Lydia Stark Boehnemann. He was baptized April 13, 1919 by Rev. L. Hoefer and confirmed March 25, 1934 by Rev. Carl Ziehe both in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. He attended Burton School and graduated from Blinn College. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp serving four years during World War II, two tours of duty in the South Pacific, Hawaii, Midway, Ie Shima and Okinawa, having attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. On January 26, 1947, he was united in marriage to Johnnie Mae Grote in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by Rev. Walter Wolf and resided in Brenham. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over fifty years where he served on the finance committee and as an usher for many years. He was also a member of American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was employed at Sealy Mattress with 25 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Johnnie Mae Boehnemann of Brenham; sister Allyne Boehnemann of Burton; sister-in-law Lorena Boehnemann of Burton; nephews and nieces, Roy and Linda Boehnemann, Leslie, Jr. and Jane Boehnemann, Ronnie and Tracy Boehnemann, Joyce and Keith Burns, Delores and Frank Christian; numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

His parents Carl and Lydia (Stark) Boehnemann; sisters Esther Boehnemann, Vera Lockstedt, Emerine Scroggins; brothers Leslie Boehnemann, Sr., Carl Boehnemann, Jr.; brothers-in-law Benny Lockstedt and Fermin Dale Scroggins; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Rudolph and Martha Meyer Grote and infant sister-in-law preceded him in death.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 16 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 in Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Matthew Jacobs and Rev. William H. Holzer will officiate. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Roy Boehnemann, Leslie Boehnemann, Jr., Ronnie Boehnemann, John Muegge, Nelson Zibilski and Roger Winkelmann. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Sealy Mattress Company.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church or favorite charity.
