Obituary

Hilbert Goessler, age 90, died peacefully at his home in Brenham on Friday, March 12, 2021.

Hilbert Fritz Goessler was born on January 11, 1931 at his grandparent’s house in Old Washington to Fritz C. and Hulda Wiese Goessler. He was baptized on March 29, 1931 by Rev. Alvin A. Blome and confirmed on March 25, 1945 by Rev. Paul Piepenbrok at Friedens Church of Washington.

On December 2, 1956, Hilbert and Lena Mae Holtkamp were married at Grace Lutheran Church by Rev. Paul Ludwig.

Hilbert served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post # 48 and was employed by City Auto Supply as an automotive machinist until his retirement. He was also a member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge #6, and served four terms on the Friedens Church Council as treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fritz and Hulda Goessler, sister and brother-in-law Ruby (Goessler) and Mace Meekins, father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Lena Holtkamp, brother-in-law Arnold “Cotton” Holtkamp and sister-in-law Laura Hinze Holtkamp, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Leona Holtkamp, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Willie “Pete” and Grace Holtkamp, and niece and nephew Geneva and Albert Ehlert.

Survivors include his wife Lena Mae, sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Ranell Goessler, Kevin and Kellie Goessler, and son Karl Goessler; grandson Garrison Goessler and special friend Julia Razook; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alvin “Doc” and Allene Holtkamp; nieces and nephews Cecil and Melissa Meekins, Danny and Brenda Meekins, Janis and Robert Loesch, Susan and Gregg Appel, Don and Regina Holtkamp, Kathy Holtkamp, and Charles and Mary Holtkamp; great nieces and nephews Bradley and Alyssa Meekins, Jason and Natalie Meekins, Melanie and Darren Holmes, Kimberly Kraft, Sara and Chad Gerke, Wayne and Sharon Ehlert, Barney and Ashley Loesch, William and Michelle Loesch, Candice and Steven Kemper, Caroline and Ryan Long, Stephanie and Chris Koehler, Johanna and Blake Becker, Jennifer and David Harris, Heather Holtkamp, and Matthew and Kelsey Holtkamp, and Chase Meekins.

Pallbearers will be Hilbert’s nephews and godchildren – Cecil Meekins, Danny Meekins, Robert Loesch, Gregg Appel, Don Holtkamp, Charles Holtkamp, Paul Goessler, and Jason Meekins.

Visitation will be Monday, March 15, 2021 from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with family present 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30am Tuesday, March 16 also at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Eric Dehmer officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
