Howard Fischer, 78, of Burton passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in Junction, Texas.
Howard was born July 26, 1934 in Burton to Alvin and Floy (Broesche) Fischer. He was baptized August 12, 1934 and confirmed April 10, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Howard served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the University of Texas with a BA degree and received a degree in accounting from the University of Houston. He was director of finance of the Cypress Fairbanks ISD. He later became business manager of Giddings ISD, retiring in 1989.
On February 14, 1958, he married Mary Colvin at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Houston. She preceded him in death February 14, 2007. Howard will be remembered as a Christian who walked in his faith daily, not only with his family but reaching out whenever opportunities presented themselves to be an example in Christ. Both he and Mary are missed by their loving church family for the leadership and love they provided daily.
His loving family includes: daughter and son-in-law Catherine and Daniel Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law David and Faiqa Fischer of Houston; grandchildren Amy and Dylan Simon, and Jack Blackburn of Nashville, Tennessee, Steven Blackburn, Aaron Fischer and Ariana Fischer of Houston; great-grandchildren Simone Marcantel, Asa and Eldon Simon of Nashville, Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Virginia Fischer of Burton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Peggy and Bill Ross of Canton, Texas; Aunt Mamie Imhoff of Brenham, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Pastor Denise Seymour will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Blackburn, Jack Blackburn, Darrell Fischer, Danny Johnson, Aaron Fischer, Dylan Simon, Joe Ross, and Ricky Fischer.
