Obituary

Irma Ewald Bell, 92, passed away in Brenham April 10, 2018.

A reception with family and friends will be held Saturday, April 21st beginning at 1:30 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 3:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Deacon Al Prescott will officiate.

Irma was born July 9, 1925 in Geronimo, Texas to Henry and Martha” Mattie” (Erck) Ewald. On January 19, 1962, she married Jesse S. Bell at Madison Square Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of Round Up Sunday School Class. The couple moved to Houston, where she worked as a bookkeeper. She and Jesse danced to Big Band and Country Western music and loved fishing trips. She enjoyed playing cards especially 42 and Bridge. Irma was a seamstress, making and selling beautiful table ware. Upon retirement, Jesse and Irma moved to Seguin, Texas and were involved in Elks Lodge, The American Legion and the Silver Center. After the death of Jesse, Irma remained active. She only recently moved to Brenham to be near family.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter Lisa Edmister, 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses.

Surviving family includes: daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Richard Hallum of Lexington and Carol and Robert Derkowski of Chappell Hill; grandchildren, Richard and Ashley Hallum, Jr., Cindy and Keith Bishop, Robby Derkowski, Jessica and Bryan Bronikowski; great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Trevor Bishop, Alec, Jade and Lily Hallum, Brinley and Brailey Bronikowski; sister-in-law, Aileen Beuershausen; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Kruse Village and Hospice Brazos Valley for their kind and gentle care of our mother.
