Obituary

Jack Ancone, Sr., 91 of Brenham, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 with his family by his side.

Jack was born February 28, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Michele and Rose (Mattiaci) Ancone. On September 2, 1940 he married the love of his life Grace Benevento in Brooklyn, New York. Jack was a member of the Teamster’s Union and worked for many years with Mike Hopkins Distributing as a truck driver. Jack is a U.S. Army veteran and served in Japan during the war.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham. Other memberships include Golden Age Club, the Italian Club where he served as president, Elk’s Lodge, Moose Lodge and Rocking Chair Drifters RV Travel Club, where he served as president and with which he visited 48 states and Canada. He loved dancing, cooking, playing bingo and cards, but his greatest joy was being with his family who will always remember their Papas wisdom, “Don’t take no wooden nickels.”

Preceding him in death were parents, wife Grace and children Ernest, Robert and Donna Ancone.

His family includes children and their spouses, Michael and Dallas Ancone of Moorpark, California, Jack D. and Laurel Ancone of Brenham, Steve and Cindy Ancone of Burton, Jacki and Craig Steele of Brenham; grandchildren, Lori Brosseit, Michael Ancone and wife Michelle, Alexandrea Ancone, Wendy King, Giacomino Ancone and wife Kristy, Steven Ancone, Ashley Campbell, husband Jared and soon to be baby Grace Ann, Matthew Steele, wife Jennifer and baby Steele, Carli Steele, Joseph Steele; great-grandchildren, Tanya, Michelle and Lexi Brosseit, Amber Hayes, John and Ashleigh Moore, Avery Ancone, Gia Grace and Lila Marie Ancone, and great-great granddaughter Renada Garrett, as well as sisters Theresa Ancone and Mary Friedman; extended family Candi Smith and Bonnie Ancone.

Beginning on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:00 am, the family will receive relatives and friends at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Graveside service with Military honors and interment to follow at 11:30 am at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pastor Tim Webb will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Steve Ancone, Michael Ancone, Matthew Steele, Joseph Steele, Jared Campbell, Taylor Zdunkewicz and Matthew Parmer.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. William Loesch and staff, AMA Home Care, Ruth Gurka and staff, Scott and White Hospital-Brenham and Hospice-Brazos Valley for their loving care during our difficult time.
