I am 62. My college days are long ago. But, I remember Professor Carstarphen with a great big smile. He was such a good teacher and loved history so much it made me enjoy it right along with him. I can’t say that I remember many teacher’s names from college but he was someone to remember!

I was so sad to hear of Uncle J.C.’s passing. He was my father’s younger brother and very much beloved. My condolences to Frances and the family. Melanie Carstarphen, James’ niece, daughter of Fred Carstarphen.

James was a good friend and mentor when I first started teaching at Blinn College in 1983. I remember when he helped me find a place to live in Brenham when I arrived. Over the years, we were colleagues in the social sciences department. I'm saddened by his death, but I know he is in a better place.

My sincere condolences to the family of this sweet friend. Have known James for many years and was such a sweet, loving, kind man. My Mom, Midge, just thought he hung the moon in kindness and appreciated him picking her up for church.
I know he is being welcomed in Glory Land with God the Father being so pleased of the man he was.
