James E. Nutt

James E. Nutt died Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Conroe Regional Medical Center, after a recent illness.

He was born April 21, 1929 in San Gabriel, Texas. He was baptized in San Gabriel Baptist Church. James was a graduate of Thorndale High School and Blinn College. He was confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham, where he continued membership throughout his life. On February 17, 1951, he married Willie Mae Schmitt in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army. He and his wife established Brenham Saddle Shop in 1960 and he continued in retail sales until retirement in 1991.

James was active and enjoyed Washington County Little League baseball. He also enjoyed hunting with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Nutt, four sons Bill and wife Elizabeth, Neil, Ross, Boyd and wife Joy, one daughter Rona, eight grandchildren Jason and wife Rebecca, Jeffrey, Sage, Shea, Dalton, Michaela, Faith, Haley and one great-grandson James Patrick Nutt.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, June 30, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Lawrence Bade officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason and Jeffrey Nutt, Sage and Shea Nutt, David Schomburg and Don Studhalter.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
