James "Jim" Carver - Guestbook

Papa, You were the first man I ever loved. You taught me how to be strong when I didn't think I could be. Its been almost a year since you've been gone and not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I wish we could've been closer but I have never felt more close to you than I have these past few months. I go visit you and granny all the time. I'm trying to keep things up for you around the ranch please just know its in good hands. I love you so much and I hope you and granny are so happy.

Love your only only granddaughter

I was so very sad to hear of Jim’s passing. I have many happy memories of time spent with Jim and Terri at Carver Ranch for sheepdog clinics and trials. Fun and great food and fellowship, come rain or sun.
It was a joy to watch Jim ride a horse, he was one with the horse. When Liam named him Papa Cowboy, it was the perfect grandpa name.
I will miss coming in from the field to ask what are we watching? Always a good old Western on TV.
Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. Happy Trails, Mr. Carver, and sympathy to all your family.

Jim always enjoyed all of us coming to the herding clinics that Terri Carver had at their place. Jim always friendly would wander down to the barn to do his chores and visit with us. I always remember Jim watching his favorite shows Gunsmoke and The Ponderosa.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Carver when I went to Terri and Jim’s ranch to pick up a puppy. He shared with me stories about growing up in Florida, about training and riding horses and the adventures of owning and working on a ranch.

I am so sorry for your loss Terri. Hold all your memories of great times close to your heart.

I have such fond memories of spending 10 plus years of weekends at the ranch. Jim was always welcoming as we “invaded” for clinics and weekly lessons. He and a Terri were gracious hosts when I was invited to eat several holiday dinners with the family. I loved the fact that Mr Carver always brought Max leftovers back After his morning breakfast out and how he loved all the horses. I had such delight watching him show Liam how to do ranch chores and then listening to Liam tell me the ranch “rules.” I also loved the Pa Pa Cowboy stories of feeding animals and riding in the gator. Mr Carver you will be missed. Always quick with a joke or political topic I will miss you. Rest In Peace.

We enjoyed many trips to the Carver Ranch visiting Terri and Jim; enjoyed some good times and good conversations. Jim was a good man and always so pleasant to be around. He told many a fun story during our visits, and was always helpful if we needed something. One of the last memories I have of Jim was Jim being so supportive to me while I attempted my first parking job with the big trailer on their ranch. He was awesome! A true cowboy, just like the ones he enjoyed watching on tv.

Jim was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

Jim, I am hoping you are resting easy, surrounded by your loved ones, which I know would most definitely include a few of your favorite horses.

God bless Jim, Terri, and all of the family.

We are so sorry to hear of Uncle Jimmy’s passing. Losing our dad’s just three years apart almost to the day is so very hard. We know the pain and sorrow all too well. Dad always spoke often about his younger brother being quite the character, as well as a daredevil.

He will be truly missed.

Love to all,

Sending love and peace to the Carver family. Hans and I have many fond memories of times spent with Jim and Donna, and sincerely appreciated the opportunities they gave us with Tweety and Missy. Showing those two mares brought so much joy to all of us. Through these times, we developed a sincere love and respect for each other, and the friendship and kindness felt by Jim and Donna touched our family in ways we can never express. Much love to all during this difficult time.

I met Jim 14 years ago when I bought a Aussie from his wife Terri. Jim and Terri welcomed me into their home on several occasions as we trained my new pup on goats and sheep. Jim and I would share stories about Live Oak Fl and how he picked watermelon on his family farm as a kid, we shared great meals and MORE stories driving from the Ranch to Royers for their speciality Pheasant and cherry pie. I was happy to have seen Jim at “work” breaking and training cutting horses, with his devoted ranch dog Max by his side...I was able to capture these moments in pictures which made special gifts to repay him for his hospitality. He was especially happy when his step son Nick would visit and make him a gourmet brisket or when his step daughter Lindsay gave him a grandson. Liam worshipped his Papa Cowboy and would help him with all of the daily chores. Thanks Mr. Carver for letting me be part of the family...May you be at Peace!

Dear Mr. Carver-

Thank you for all your kindness on so many occasions at the ranch. Everything we know about life and all the responsibility that goes along with the privilege of owning a working ranch we learned at the Carver Ranch.

It was always wonderful to watch you and Max work with the cows and horses and you were never too busy to answer questions or to stop in and give a quick hello to us.

We are thankful for the opportunity to share your home and always smiled each time you got out of your chair after lunch to announce "Once again the Cartwrights have saved the day!"

We will cherish the last 11 years of our wonderful memories at The Carver Ranch. Rest in peace, sir.

We send our love. We enjoyed all the years we got to spend with you as part of our family and being “Papa Cowboy” to Liam. I know there are so many memories he will cherish for the rest of his life. The countless rides in the gator, picking up sticks, putting things on the burn pile and just doing chores with you. Until we see you again Godspeed.

My visits to or work at the Carver ranch, to visit Jim and Terri, were always so inviting. Jim always had a great story or joke to tell. Jim was always so quick whited, definitely kept me on my toes.
I will miss him

We were reminiscing about all of our “Jim” stories on Monday and heard of your passing on Tuesday. God must have been trying to tell us you were moving on.

We enjoyed our weekend trips to the ranch to works dogs. Isaac always loved getting to ride the gator with you to do chores, even when he got bucked off and had to run to catch you!

Thank you for always taking time, even if it was several hours digging a hole with the tractor after 2 years without rain so I could finish a class project.

We will cherish our memories of you.

What a wonderful man! Wow! Rest in peace Jim and what an impact you made on myself. Always had something good to say and was always there to help assist in what ever crazy thing I was trying to accomplish! I think the craziest was it was blowing stink and I was trying to set up a small tent inside my daughters small CM trailer! I had visions of being blown away and Jim did not question my actions, was only there to help me make it happen!
