Obituary
Janice Rose (Wagner) Fairlie of Brenham, TX peacefully entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2025.
Janice was born in Brenham, the youngest of a big family, to Henry and Esther (Niemeyer) Wagner on October 17, 1957. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill on December 1, 1957 and confirmed on March 26, 1972. She remained a faithful member all of her life, where she served on various church organizations and ministries. Janice was instrumental in incorporating technology aid into the church services, and served as Chairperson for the mobile blood drive at the Church each year. She served as Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, Sunday School teacher, Council Member, and member of Rachel Circle throughout her adult life.
Janice was a graduate of Brenham High School where she met Robert Howard Fairlie, Jr. The two were married on March 12, 1978 at St. John Lutheran of Prairie Hill. Janice and Robert were blessed with a daughter, Adrienne Beth.
Janice began working at Ben Boettcher and Associates (BBAx Architects, presently) in 1981. She devoted the next 43 years to the assistance of the firm’s architectural services, and was an ever-consistent presence in the office. Her tenure spanned 43 years and 52 co-workers, and she could lovingly name every single one.
She intentionally celebrated life and did so often, and well. There was no such thing as “casual” in Janice’s book; personalized thoughtfulness was at the forefront of everything she did. Making others feel special was her gift. She channeled her creative talents for papercrafting and design through her small business, Word of Mouth Designs. She dearly loved all of her “WOM Ladies” and felt sincere joy to celebrate in their life milestones alongside them through invitation, paper craft decorations, stationary design, and program design (to name a few).
Her friends and family would lovingly describe Janice of having “the fear of missing out”. She wanted to be a part of all that she could, and spending time with friends and family were the closest moments to her heart. She had a love for traveling and enjoyed taking trips near and far, fully immersing in wherever and whomever she landed with.
A legacy of love endures in the countless hearts she uplifted through her life. Assuredly, Janice was met at Heaven’s Gates with the phrase “Well done, my good and faithful servant”. Her family will forever consider her their precious gem – rare, radiant, and beautiful – and she will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Esther Wagner; brother and sisters-in-law, Harold and Doris Wagner, Doris Wagner; sisters and brother-in-law, Darlene Jane and Ocie Helmer, Jeanette Kraker; niece, Krystal Weatherly; nephew, Russell Helmer, and great-nieces, Angelita Chavelas and Sydney Wagner.
Janice is survived by her husband, Robert Fairlie; her daughter, Adrienne Fairlie; brothers and sister-in-law, Arvin Wagner, Vernon and Judy Wagner. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and their families.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
Serving as pallbearers will be Filippo Busalacchi, Scott Meier, Augustine Salazar, Darren Heine, Lloyd Neutzler, and Marcus Schulze. Honorary pallbearers include Arvin Wagner and Vernon Wagner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. To honor Janice and a cause she cared profoundly about, please consider giving blood in her memory.
