Jennifer Robin Ray

Jennifer "Robin" Ray, 51, passed away on May 29, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan, Texas surrounded by the love of family.

Born on May 5, 1975, in Austin, Texas, Robin spent her childhood in Sinton, Texas, where she graduated from high school and began a lifelong pursuit of helping others. She earned her Associates in Applied Science in Registered Nursing Education degree from Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas in 1995, continued her education at the University of Missouri, graduating with a Bachelor's in Registered Nursing in 1997, and later earning her Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2002. She practiced law in the Northern District of Florida. Throughout her life, Robin's intelligence, determination, and compassion guided both her personal and professional journey.

More than any accomplishment, Robin treasured her family. She is survived by her devoted loving husband, Jerry Wayne Ray Jr., whom she met through Match.com. Their story began when Jerry invited her to attend church here with him. While their first official meeting took place at Mama's Kitchen in Somerville, their relationship was built on a shared faith, friendship, and a deep love that continued to grow throughout their short marriage. Robin attended Community Chapel of Somerville with Jerry, often sitting beside him in the sound booth during services.

Robin was a loving mother to her sons, Austin VanderVeen and his wife, Elizabeth, and Hunter VanderVeen. She was a proud and adoring grandmother (Memaw) to Isaac and Owen, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by her loving Mother, Brenda Schultze; Step-dad, Dale Schultze; Dad, Bob Harris; Step-mom, Sharon Harris; Brother, James Harris and his wife, Joleen Harris; along with many other extended beloved family members and dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Robin found happiness wherever there was water. Whether relaxing inside a swimming pool, enjoying time on the Frio River, or feeling the sand beneath her feet at the beach in Florida, she felt at peace near the water. Robin was a reader; she loved reading books and books on her phone. She loved making memories showing Jerry how to make the Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, having amazing times laughing with family, and friends, when embracing life's simple pleasures.

Even in passing, Robin continued her lifelong commitment to helping others. She became a
tissue, bone, and cornea donor, helping two individuals recover their sight and providing
healing and hope to heart patients, burn patients, and others in need of reconstructive
surgeries.

Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Southwest Transplant Alliance along with Acara Hospice for their compassionate care, guidance, and support throughout the donation process, helping Robin's legacy of generosity continue to touch the lives of others.

Those who knew Robin will remember her beautiful smile, caring heart, quick wit, and
unwavering love for the people she cherished. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued. Her faith, strength, and compassion touched countless lives and will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy of love lives on in the hearts of her
husband, children, grandchildren, parents, brother, extended family, and many friends.
While she will be deeply missed, those who loved her find comfort in the promise of eternal
life through Jesus Christ and the hope of being reunited with her again. One of Robin's goals
was to start memorizing scripture, Revelation 1:8 was the latest she memorized. "I'm The
Alpha and The Omega", says The Lord God, "Who is, Who was, and Who is to come, The
Almighty."

A visitation will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833 on June 4th from 8am until 8pm, with family present from 5-8pm.

A memorial/funeral service celebrating Robin's life will be held on June 5th at 11am at Community Chapel of Somerville, 14805 Hwy 36 South, Somerville, TX.
