Obituary

Jerrell Weir, 85, of Brenham, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 20, 2021.

Jerrell was born October 10, 1936 to Ben and Elvie Jones Weir in Panola County. He grew up on the family farm where he tended to the livestock. Jerrell often told stories of waking up early to ride the fences before he went to school. He graduated from Carthage High School where he was involved in FFA and the yearbook committee.

While attending Stephen F. Austin State College in 1956, and while working for JCPenney Company, he met his college sweetheart, Ann Epps. They were married August 22, 1958 and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. They were blessed with two sons, David and Don.

Jerrell continued his career with JCPenney Company. Through his fine eye for clothing, work ethic, and dedication to the company, he quickly rose from sales to being a regional manager. He worked 25 years for the Penney Company. During which time, he had several opportunities to meet Mr. Penney.

After leaving the JCPenney Company, the family moved to Brenham in 1974. Jerrell fell in love with Brenham and decided to make it their home. He then spent many years working in retail, real estate, and accounting in the Brenham and surrounding areas.

Jerrell was known to lend his time and leadership skills to many activities. He especially loved the Little League organization where he spent over 35 years as a volunteer. He served in various capacities from assistant coach to district administrator. Jerrell was also the first State Coordinator for Texas East in the Southwest Region for Little League Baseball.

Jerrell was an active member and ordained deacon of First Baptist Church of Brenham. While serving at First Baptist he was instrumental in establishing the Television Ministry and serving as chairman of Committee on Committees. Jerrell and Ann began attending Cowboy Church of Brenham when it was established in January of 2010. During this time Jerrell was nominated and selected as an elder. One of his greatest joys was assisting with the purchase of the property and the building of the Cowboy Church at its current location.

Jerrell is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his wife Ann; sons, David and his wife Judy Weir of College Station, Don and his wife Lisa Weir of College Station; two granddaughters, Heather Weir of Dallas, Ashley and husband Andrew Myers of Dallas; sister, Mary Morgan; nephew, Steve Morgan; niece, Kim and husband Dan Merryfield; along with other nieces and nephews.
