Joan Inez Hughes

Joan Inez Hughes, 87, of Spring, Texas, went to be with our LORD and Savior on Sunday, February 13, 2022.

Visitation will be Friday, February 18th from 10-11 am at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, Texas 77833. The celebration of life will be from 11am -12pm and friends and family are invited to a reception following the service at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Joan was born in Afton, Oklahoma on September 16, 1934 to Orin Glen Holt and Minnie Lea Leib Holt. She had one sister Wanda Marie who was 11 years older than her. She grew up in Pasadena, Texas and was married on September 12, 1955 to Marvin Hughes, Jr. for 25 years. They raised 3 children Teresa, Trey and David. She loved her children and was very active in all of their school activities and was PTO President and loved volunteering. She was passionate about her church and took all 3 of her children to Sunday school and church every Sunday. She also taught Sunday school and volunteered there.

She loved her family deeply and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love of loves was her many cats. She never went without a kitty in her home. She had the greatest laugh and smile and everyone loved her.

She had a great career as a district manager in cosmetics at JC Penny’s and a Regional Director for Frances Denney and traveled all over the country do makeup classes. She had a flair with makeup and beauty products.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Orin Glen Holt and Minnie Lea Holt and sister Wanda Marie Gipson.

She is survived by: her daughter, Teresa Duff and husband Jimmy; sons, Trey Hughes and David Hughes and wife Doreen; grandchildren, Autumn Roberts and husband Tad, Dylan Hughes, Dawson Hughes and fiancé Shelby Kemper and; great-grandchildren, Tye and Beaux Roberts.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dylan Hughes, Dawson Hughes, Tye Roberts, Beaux Roberts, David Brewton.
