Joan Marie Cook

Joan Marie Cook, age 75, of Brenham passed away May 10, 2024.

Joan was born on September 21, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Adolph and Joan (Bavouset) Naschke.. Born the oldest of eight, Joan helped raise her siblings. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Houston, Texas. Joan married Albert J. Cook on July 4, 1969 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Joan played many roles but was best known for being an amazing wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was an adventurous person always living life to the fullest. She loved her Houston Astros and Houston Texans. She loved visiting Hawaii and was known for going on cruises and gambling. If she wasn’t on the phone talking, she could be found listening and dancing to oldies music while dressed in concert tees and cut off shorts and flip-flops. During the holidays, Joan would make her cook her family a dinner and bake her famous sugar cookies and silk pies.

Joan is preceded in death by parents, brothers Mark Naschke and Paul Naschke; Sister-in-law Carolyn Cook.

Left to cherish her memory are husband of 54 years, daughters Kellie (Matthew) Powell, Karen Garza; granddaughter Meadow Marie Garza; siblings Mary Naschke Tatum, Jane Beth (Mando) Samaniego, Laura Edstrom and Matthew Naschke.
