Obituary

John Alford, Jr., 73 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home with family by his side.

He was born December 23, 1944 in Houston to John and Billie Jean (Mabry) Alford. John was a graduate of Spring Branch High School and attended the University of Houston. He worked in the family’s business, Alford Manufacturing in The Heights. On July 1, 1978, he married Pamela Clepper. In 1979, John and Pam moved to Brenham and here, he established Brentex Construction.

John enjoyed traveling with his family. Visits to his family’s farm in Swiss Alp were especially memorable. He could always share a story and talk to anyone, but was also very opinionated. He was an outdoorsman and survivalist. Hunting and fishing trips were carefully planned, making sure everyone had what could be needed. John was an avid NASCAR and Astros fan.

Surviving loving family includes: wife, Pam Alford; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Jerry Haack, Jr. of Katy, Sheila and Mark Marzahn of Brenham, Sheila Webb of Rosenburg and Cindy Spears of Brenham; grandsons, Brian Haack, Brandon Haack, Luke Marzahn, Blake Marzahn, Ty Grimm, Macey Tidwell and Derek Grimm; great-granddaughters, Emma Tidwell and Aubrey Grimm; mother, Billie Jean Alford of Houston; brothers Ronnie Alford and Glenn Alford; along with special friends, Cody Debore and Willie Dorsey.

He was preceded in death by his father.
