Obituary
John Bo Schaer, age 86 of Chappell Hill, passed away at his home Friday, August 24, 2007.
Bo was born December 25, 1920 in Chappell Hill to Willie E. and Sadie (Reinstein) Schaer. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force. He also attended Blinn College and Texas A & M University. On June 14, 1945, he married Milly Ann England in Chappell Hill. He worked at Farmers State Bank, where his grandfather had been president. Bo was also involved in ranching for many years.
His memberships included: life long member of Chappell Hill United Methodist Church, a 60 year Mason member of Hubert Lodge #67 in Chappell Hill, founding member of Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Chappell Hill Lion’s Club, Chappell Hill Historical Society. He served as chairman of the Chappell Hill School Board and was honored as 2007 Man of the Year by Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother Billy Schaer, sister Bernice Shaver, brothers-in-law Robert Smith and Edward Shaver, nephew John William Smith.
Bo’s loving family includes: wife, Milly Schaer of Chappell Hill; sons, John Schaer, Jr. and wife Dottie of Brenham and William Schaer and wife Joyce of Bryan; grandsons, John Schaer, III and wife Jenny of Houston, Jason Schaer and Michael Schaer of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Willie Schaer, Jr. and wife Bobbie of Chappell Hill; sister, Lillian Smith of Chappell Hill.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Chappell Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Paula Behrens-Lopez officiating. Interment will be Monday, August 27, 2007 in the Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Ebert, Dr. W. F. Hasskarl, Jr., Dr. Robert Stark, Frank Gurka, Robert Schroeder, members of the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department and of Hubert Lodge #67 of Chappell Hill.
Memorials may be given to your charity of choice.
The Schaer family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Frank Leal, Jr., Dr. Henry Boehm, Jr., Ruth Gurka, nurses and caregivers of AMA for their care of Mr. Schaer during his illness.
