Obituary

On January 10, 2024 our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Uncle and Friend John Charles Bolcerek was called home to eternal rest by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John was born on November 5, 1934 in Brenham, Texas to Lee and Antonia (Budnick) Bolcerek. He was a lifelong Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham where he received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage to Deborah Bennett. He has served as an usher and helped maintain the cemetery in earlier years. Along with attending St. Mary’s School for some time, he also attended the rural schools of his era, including Hoddeville school.

John served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas where he earned a good conduct medal and honorable discharge. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was proud to have served his country, being the last of his six brothers to do so. For the majority of his life John made his home in the “country”, or rural area, where he had an undeniable love for farming, raising cattle, growing a garden, and enjoying God’s creation. He found enjoyment in his work, baling hay, building fence and riding in the pasture to see if a new baby calf had been born. He always grew a garden, spring and fall, much larger than he needed, to share with family, friends, and neighbors.

Along with farming and ranching he also worked many years of his life in home and steel construction. The legacy that John has left for his family and all who knew him is revealed through his faith in God. He was passionate about his faith and a true believer in Jesus Christ, passing this on to his son and grandchildren.

John is survived by his son and daughter in law Jason and Stacey Bolcerek, grandchildren who he cherished, Blane Bolcerek and Bailey Bolcerek, brother in law Z.E. Kominczak, sister in law Victoria Bolcerek, as well as numerous nieces and one nephew. John was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Antonia Bolcerek, sister Wanda Kominczak, brothers Willie Bolcerek, Edward Bolcerek, Paul Bolcerek, Billy Balcerek, and Steve Bolcerek(Louise).

A visitation for John will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 8am to 7pm with family present from 5pm to 7pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on January 13, 2024 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham with a burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Blane Bolcrek, Craig Bolcerek, Michael Bolcerek, Dave Zoretic, Jason Hupe and Mark Eikenhorst. Honorary pallbearers include Bailey Bolcerek, Edwin Bolcerek, Johnnie Eikenhorst, Jimmy and Cookie Loesch, Z.E. Kominczak, Alfred Kalbow, J.R. Allen, and Daniel Cendalski.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Washington County EMS, Fire Department, and First Responders as well as the medical staff of St. Joseph's Hospital. The many calls, messages, thoughts and prayers from friends, family and neighbors have been a blessing in this difficult time.
May God Bless You All- Jason, Stacey, Blane and Bailey.
