John Edward Tuttle

Our father, John Edward Tuttle, went Home to be with his best friend and bride on August 11, 2012.
Born in Denver, Colorado, he was a quiet, intelligent, intense individual with a phenomenal grasp on life. He received his degree in Petroleum Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and during a 'stint' in the Army during World War II spent time at Stanford University . . . he was proud of his championship horseshoe throwing record there :). He introduced his wife and children to true life substance such as his love for nature, the mountains, fly fishing, camping, golf, travel, music, budgets, sensibility, respect for others, the privilege and importance of a good education . . . to name a few. He worked as a Licensed Petroleum Engineer for Shell Oil Company for 30+ years where he met his lovely bride, Dolores and wooed her with his wit and charm. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together this March. His work did not consume who he was. He was a devoted, loving husband and a great father to John David Tuttle, Donna Ruth Tuttle Holt, and Joy Lynn Tuttle Childress Stroud . . . Grandfather to Jillian and Preston Tuttle, Travis and Caity Holt, and Jonathan and Andrew Childress. He kept our family intact and well-cared for as we moved with him to five different states and a year in The Hague, Netherlands during his career with Shell Oil. He used his engineering skill to design some of the Tuttle family homes, including our last home together in River Plantation in Conroe, Texas. John retired early at the age of 56-1/2, and spent the next nearly 30 years sharing life’s rewards with his bride, travelling all over the United States including a few cherished trips overseas to check out some of the golf courses in Ireland and Scotland. They spent many amazing summers together in Park City, Utah and Keystone, Colorado. His life was rich, full of adventure and purpose. He was a man of few words who led by example . . . his intelligence, care, wit and charm were evident to all who knew him. That was who John was.
Their last few years were spent at the cottages at Kruse Village making many new memories together and building meaningful relationships with their neighbors.
Our parents were loving, generous human beings with many amazing friends and have certainly left their legacy.
