Obituary

John Lee Wright, Jr., age 59 and originally of Sugar Land, Texas, left his earthly home peacefully at his house in Brenham, Texas last week.

John was a passionately creative man, who was known to everyone as the most tender, kind soul God ever created. Through his gentle nature he made only friends, never acquaintances. He loved photography, animals more than most; he loved to write and to draw, both talents he shares with his two daughters. John loved to build anything, and in doing so, was known to leave behind quite the mess. He had a few culinary specialties that included scrambled eggs and milkshakes. He was a conservationist, innately and would have preferred to spend every moment of his life outdoors. He had the warmest hands and the warmest heart. His greatest love and grandest accomplishments were his two daughters. He celebrated his success through theirs and prided himself on everything they continue to do.

John ‘J.W.’ was born to Erma ‘Mitzie’ Martin and John Lee Wright, Sr. of Sugar Land, Texas in Houston on July 10, 1959. John was born the third of five children and is preceded in death by father John Lee Wright, Sr. and sister, Janice Drake.

John’s legacy will be carried on and his life honored, by and through his daughters, Jessica Alexander (born Jessica Lynn Wright) and Jaclyn Day (born Jaclyn Francis Wright) and their familes. John was the proud grandfather to Savannah Lynn Alexander (10), Amory Hart Havemann (4), Mia Cate Munoz (8 mos.) and was excited to help the family welcome two new granddaughters due this winter.

John is survived by his mother, Erma as well as siblings Cindy Ventress, Frances Wright and Anthony ‘Tony’ Wright and countless nieces, nephews and all of their children.

John’s life and final peace will be celebrated by family and friends on Thursday, October 4th, at the Chapel at St. Theresa’s in Sugar Land, Texas at 6:30 in the evening. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers and a respectful awareness for all who may be suffering from the disease of addiction.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Prairie Lea Cemetery, 1004 Prairie Lea St., Brenham, Texas 77833.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham.
