Obituary
John Will Fuchs, age 90 of Burton, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Rev. Rich Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
John Will was born December 31, 1923 to John C. and Elsie (Stork) Fuchs in the Greenvine Community of Washington County. He was baptized April 6, 1924 and confirmed April 10, 1938 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, where he remained a lifelong member. He attended Boundary School, Burton High School (Class of 1941, the first graduating class), and Blinn College. He was called into the Army during WWII, serving in 102nd Infantry December 29, 1944- August 22, 1946.
On June 22, 1947, John Will married Evelyn Boehnemann in Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in LaGrange, where he worked for the Carnation Company. They moved to his present home place and were dedicated to dairy farming for 20 years. John Will loved his land and had a strong work ethic, always doing his best. During this time, he was involved in the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and was honored as Outstanding Dairyman. He was a 4H leader and supported his children’s and grandchildren’s 4H and FFA projects. After retirement from dairy farming, he raised beef cattle. John Will was proud of his German heritage. He traveled to Germany three times, where he met family and made lifelong friends.
He served: as a Burton State Bank director for 44 years, a long-time director of the Bluebonnet Electric Board and school trustee at Burton School District for nine years. Memberships included: church choir, American Legion, Lion’s Club (charter member), lifetime membership of Texas Lion’s Camp, Winedale German Singers, LaBahia Turn Verein, Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation Service, Burton Cotton Gin Operation Restoration and Burton Fire Department.
He enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s ballgames and playing dominos.
John Will is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Fuchs; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Joy Fuchs of Burton, Gerald and Laurie Fuchs of Bellville; grandchildren, Michael and April Fuchs, Landry and Jennifer Fuchs, Kyle Fuchs, Raeden Fuchs; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Addison and Carley Fuchs and Olivia Kate Fuchs; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Glenwood Schwartz; sister-in-law, Florence Boehnemann; brother-in-law, Delton Koerth; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; special friend, Ruth May.

He was preceded in death by: parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ora Nell and Edward Muehlbrad; brothers and sister-in-law, LeeRoy Fuchs (who died as a child), Lester and Virginia Fuchs; brother-in-law, Delphine Boehnemann; sister-in-law, Gladys Koerth.
Pallbearers will be Michael Fuchs, Landry Fuchs, Kyle Fuchs, E.J. Muehlbrad, Ronnie Schulte, Dale Schwartz, Matt Bathe. Honorary pallbearers will be Elroy Maass, Alois Jaeger, Directors and Employees of Burton State Bank, Directors of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.
Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hospice Brazos Valley or your charity of choice.
