Obituary

Johnnie Frank Hoffmann, Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, Bryan, suddenly and unexpectedly into the arms of his beloved Lord, after a long and rewarding life.

Mr. Hoffmann was born May 27, 1919 in Chappell Hill to Frank and Pearl (Kitowski) Hoffmann. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where he remained a life long active member. He attended schools at Armstrong, Sauney Stand and St. Stanislaus Parish School, Chappell Hill. He enlisted into the U.S. Army on April 16, 1942 and was assigned to 821st Tank Destroyer Pn. Company C. He served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany where he spent time on the front lines during WW II. He returned home December 11, 1945.

On November 6, 1946, he married Monica Theresa Mazyn in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Johnnie, Jr., Tommy and Shirley. He was a farmer until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by: parents; son, Tommy Hoffmann; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Helen Hoffmann; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Pete Nowak, Martha and Chester Nowak, Wanda and Tony Bilski, Bernice and Alvin Zientek; nephew, David Nowak.

Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Monica Hoffmann of Sauney Stand; son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie, Jr. and Sovieda Hoffmann of Chappell Hill; daughter-in-law, Beverly Hoffmann of Ennis; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Errol Murphy of Austin; nine grandchildren, Scottie and Ricky Flores of Iola, J.R. Hoffmann and significant other Deedra Deegs of Chappell Hill, Melanie and Jamie Smith, Michelle Hoffmann and Cookie Hoffmann all of Forney, Christian Hoffmann and Donovan Hoffmann both of Ennis; Christopher Murphy and significant other Samantha Bryant of Austin, Chad Murphy of San Diego, California; five great-grandchildren, Ricky Flores, Jr., Tristan Hoffmann, Lyndsey Smith, Micah Smith and Caden Murphy.

Rosary will be recited Friday, September 18th at 7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral mass will be Saturday, September 19th at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Vincent Chacko as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Murphy, J.R. Hoffmann, Christian Hoffmann, Donovan Hoffmann, Melvin (Hoffmann) Krolczyk, Ricky Flores, Tim Murski and Travis Kmiec. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Murphy.

Memorials may be given to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Chappell Hill.
