Obituary

Johnnie Julian Jezierski, Jr. passed away on September 27, 2021, at the age of 100 years and 4 months, in Brenham, Texas. He was born May 13, 1921, the youngest child of Hedwig (Cegielski) and John Jezierski, Sr., in the Sauney Stand Community of Chappell Hill, Texas.

Johnnie was united in marriage to Florence Kmiec, and of this union was born 5 children, Fabian, Jerome, Patricia, and twins, Jeanette and Johnnie III.

He proudly served his country during World War II, joining the United States Navy at the age of 20. He was stationed aboard the USS Mississippi, and participated in the following operations: The Aleutian Campaign, The Gilberta Campaign, The Marshalls Campaign, Diversionary Actions in Bismarck Archipelago, Palau Islands Campaign, Philippine Campaign and Okinawa Campaign, serving a total of 677 days in combat areas. He was honorably discharged October 25th, 1945. After returning home he served with the Honor Guard, participating in the funerals of 21 casualties of war.

Johnnie returned to Washington County making a home for his family in Brenham. He worked as a barber, and eventually opened up his own shop, “Johnnies Barber Shop”. In 1951 the family moved onto the home place in Chappell Hill, where he was a farmer and rancher in addition to running his Barber Shop.

In 1990 he sold his homestead and moved to Hempstead, Texas where he lived until moving to Argent Court in Brenham in 2019. He was a past member of St. Mary’s Church in Brenham, St. Katherine Drexel in Hempstead, and currently a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill. He was a charter member of Brenham Knights of Columbus #3287, and charter member of Hempstead K of C #12672. He was a member and past President of the Texas Barbers Association.

Survivors are: son Fabian Jezierski and wife Ritha of Chappell Hill, daughter Patricia Novak and husband Gerald of Chappell Hill, daughter Jeanette Cribbs of Wimberley, Texas and, son Johnnie Jezierski, III and wife Melody of Waller, Texas.

Grandchildren include, David and Lana Jezierski, Davin and Shannon Jezierski, Amanda and Brandon Suehs, Michael and Laura Novak, Gwen and Shawn Cureton, Nikki and David Koppy, Rachael and Bo Ashe, Cody Nelson, Galli, Jr. and Hannah Cribbs, Joseph Jezierski, and Ashley Jezierski.

Great Grandchildren are: Katelyn, Hannah and Emma Jezierski, Ethan Jezierski, Barrett Suehs, Kathleen, Dane and Weston Novak, Coral, Chloe, Coryn and Carys Cureton, Ava and Westen Ashe, Ryder and Parker Nelson, Galli Cribbs, III, and Chase and Shianne Moore.

Preceding him in death was his son Jerome J. Jezierski and his son-in-law Galli G. Cribbs, Sr.

Visitation will be at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 8 am-7 pm on Thursday, September 30, 2021, with the family being present at 5 pm. Rosary will be recited at 7 pm.

Services will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11 am, with Rev. Xavier Bilavendiran officiating. Burial will follow immediately at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David and Davin Jezierski, Michael Novak, Cody Nelson, Joseph Jezierski and Galli Cribbs, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.

The family wishes to thank Tyler and Amber at Hospice, and the staff at Argent Court for their care, compassion and friendship. Donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in Johnnie’s name.
