Obituary

Karen (Dean) Berckenhoff, 66, of Brenham, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

A memorial service will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 31st, at 1 p.m.

Karen was born in Houston to parents Douglas Charles and Benolye Esther (Mikeska) Dean on May 5, 1952. She grew up and attended school in Houston. On June 1, 1991, Karen was united in marriage to David Wayne Berckenhoff. They made their home in Brenham. Karen was employed by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department as a secretary for over 30 years. Karen enjoyed the outdoors, camping, going fishing and hunting, and spending time at the beach or on the lake. She loved baking and canning, and loved dancing. But above all, she cherished time spent with family, especially playing with her grandchildren.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Benolye Dean, and parents-in-law, Jimmy and Delores Berckenhoff.

Karen’s surviving loving family includes husband of 26 years, David Berckenhoff; children, Rebecca (Jerame) Redden of Waller, and Rickie Neyhard Ohio; grandchildren, Jerry Redden, Bryce Redden, Jaxen Redden, Renee Tatikis, Kristy Hernandez, James Neyhard, Hailey Neyhard, William Neyhard; great-grandchild Kohen Zane Kennedy; siblings and their spouses, Kathie Wallace of Houston, Douglas Jr. and Ginger Dean of Lufkin, Gary Dean of Conroe; 18 nieces and nephews; and 23 great nieces and great nephews.
