Obituary

Kathryn Booth passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 13, at her home in Round Top.

Kathryn was born on December 17, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to Lionel James “Jack” Wallace and Kathryn Rothwell Wallace. Kathryn dedicated her entire working career to education, spending many years as a middle school mathematics teacher. Through her patience, consistency, and care, she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.

Kathryn was the proud and loving mother of five children. She poured her love into her family with quiet strength, steady guidance, and endless devotion, creating a foundation that continues through generations. Known for her love of turquoise jewelry, she wore it often as a reflection of her vibrant spirit and gentle individuality—a familiar and comforting sight to those who knew her best.

Kathryn had a strong faith and belief in giving to others. She enjoyed tutoring children in reading and helping with the food pantry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She was a member of Daughters of the King and became a spiritual mentor for many women.

Kathryn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved taking road trips, watching hummingbirds, and getting lost in a good book. She especially enjoyed Mexican food and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.

Kathryn will be remembered for her gentle presence, her joyful spirit, and her devotion to family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and dedication that will be carried on by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Ellen and grandson Warren.

Left to cherish her memories are her children Linda Warburton, Glenn Warburton and Wanda, Susan Pritchard, Greg Warburton and Kathy; grandchildren Fallon Vaughn, Bradley Pritchard and Amber, Megan Pritchard and Derek, Stacy Pritchard, Keith Pritchard, Jessica Kremm and Justin, Katie Zajicek and Nick, Kelly Zarytsky and Adam; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Grace Zajicek, Tommy and Katherine Kremm, Elliott Zarytsky, Mila Lange and Autumn Pritchard; sister Lanelle Lahrmann and the late Durwood; Church Family; and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

A celebration of Kathryn’s life will be held on January 3, 2025 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church starting at 10:00am.
