Obituary
Kelly Baker Wagner Bauerkemper, age 61, of Round Top, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on October 5, 2026.
She was born on January 6, 1965, in Brenham, Texas, to Raymond Paul “R.P.” Wagner, Jr. and Willie Mae Boeker. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby, Texas, and she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, Texas
.
Kelly was a woman of faith who lived life with a wonderful sense of style, adventure, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She dressed to a T and took pride in coordinating her outfits, completing each look with hats and jewelry and always having her nails done. Kelly was the life of the party and loved music and dancing.
Kelly enjoyed running her business, Crossed Arrows, and attending antique and trade shows with her longtime, beloved, and devoted partner, Bennett, while spending time with their “Show Family.” Some of her favorite places were the beaches of Matagorda and Port Aransas, where she enjoyed the sun, the water, fishing, getting that golden tan, and making treasured memories. She especially loved her annual girls’ trips with her “Bitchachos” and seeing the “Little Sharkies” at the Beach Bash. She never turned down an opportunity to have a little fun and try her luck gambling with her beloved sisters.
Kelly believed in giving back to her community. She sponsored youth programs such as the Washington County 4-H Horse Club and the annual book fair at Round Top-Carmine Elementary School. She was co-chair of the Lucky Wagner Memorial Team Roping Scholarship Fund which awarded scholarships to local youth.
Above all, Kelly was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a peacekeeper with a specific calm. Her voice was unmistakable, and her laugh was so loud and jovial. She will be remembered as a strong, kind, and compassionate woman who comforted others and made sure people felt safe. She offered her own brand of no-nonsense “tough love” when people needed to hear it. Her precious dog, Bear, held a very special place in her heart and was a cherished companion. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, R.P. and Willie Mae Wagner; husband, L.C. Bauerkemper, Jr.; siblings, Donna Jean Wagner and Raymond Paul “Lucky” Wagner, III; brother-in-law, David Roesler; and grandparents, Herbert and Emma Boeker and Raymond and Hilda Wagner.
Kelly is survived by her daughters, Stacie Brown and Mandi Brown, and their children Paul and Evie McCullough and Kylie and Rilynn Amos; her beloved partner, Bennett Sachtleben, and his daughter and son-in-law, Tedi and Colton Kitzman, and their children Emerson and Elliot Kitzman; sisters and brother-in-law Nancy Roesler, Linda and Rudy Tiemann; sister-in-law Kathy Wagner; special cousins Michael and Carolyn Oevermann; nieces and nephews Curt Roesler, Brett Roesler, Amy and Adam Stubbs, Christopher and Amy Tiemann, Valerie and Ryan Ross, Cody and Meghan Wagner, Cacie and Kolby Avery, and numerous great nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many close friends she considered family.
