Obituary
Larry Norman Reese, age 80, of Brenham, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026.
Larry was born in 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Carl M. Reese and Gertrude Orilla Reese.
He served in the United States Navy before beginning a career as a Staff Photographer for the Dallas Morning News and later the Houston Chronicle. His work took him across the country and abroad, documenting both historic events and everyday life.
He was a licensed pilot, a volunteer firefighter, an EMS worker, a hospice volunteer, a shooting enthusiast, and an active member of the Cowboy Church.
Music was central to Larry’s life. He wrote songs, played the fiddle and guitar, and loved to sing, sharing music with family during holiday gatherings.
He also took pride in working with his hands. Through woodturning, he crafted vases and handcrafted pens, and through leatherwork, he created bracelets and other pieces.
Larry will be remembered for his devotion to God, family, and his beloved wife Judy, his service to others, and the remarkable breadth of his creativity, interests and accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his brother Mel Reese, and former wife Chrissy Reese.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Grimm Reese, daughter, Joanna Reese, grandchildren Justin, Emma and Cody Reese, and step daughter, Dodie Miller and her children Jonathan, Minta Dahmann and husband Zachary.
As per his request family will be holding a private service at a later date.
Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, Texas 77833. Phone number 979-836-3611. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.brenhammemorialchapel.com
