Obituary
LaVerne Helen (Brinkmeyer) Blasingame, age 92, passed away September 27, 2025.
LaVerne was born in Wesley, Texas on May 21, 1933 to Charles and Malinda (Muegge) Brinkmeyer. She was married to George Richard Blasingame for 42 years and enjoyed traveling and socializing with bowling, cards, and dominoes.
LaVerne had a vibrant personality and was an active member of St, Mary’s Catholic church where she helped organize the church bazaar for many years, sang in the choir and participated in the quilting group.
LaVerne is preceded in death by her husband, George Richard Blasingame, her sons Lee Edward Baca, Jr. and John Charles Baca, along with her siblings: William Brinkmeyer, Alvin Brinkmeyer, Anita Thielmann and Raymond Brinkmeyer.
Survivors include her daughter Alicia Marie Needham (Jim); son Everett J. Hurst; grandchildren Clark Needham (Allison), Lauren Handlin (Justin), Kenton Needham (Stephanie), Emilee Anthony (Hunter), and Ethan Hurst. She also had 8 great-grandchildren, a brother Charles Brinkmeyer (Patsy); nephews and nieces Karl Brinkmeyer, Andrea Young, Latrell Jankowiak, Terri Garmer, and Craig Brinkmeyer.
A viewing with family will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. A rosary will be recited beginning at 7:30pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 2:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Edwin Kagoo officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Clark Needham, Lauren Handlin, Kenton Needham, Emilee Anthony, Ethan Hurst, Karl Brinkmeyer, Craig Brinkmeyer and Marcus Bender. Honorary pallbearers are Latrell Jankowiak and Darlene Konieczny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.
