Obituary

Leon Melvin Vierus, 84 of Brenham, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at Scott & White Hospital.

Leon was born April 16, 1928, to Otto Paul and Emma (Fritz) Vierus in Wesley, Texas. He was married to Mercedes “Sadie” Luetge on April 2, 1950.

He was a civil engineer with the Highway Department for 37 years. Leon proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include: his wife Sadie; children Jerry Vierus and wife Darlene, Gareth Vierus and fiancé Janice Whitman, and Linda Lange and husband David; grandchildren Nicholas Vierus and wife Erin, Nichole Gandy and husband Chad, Natalie Vierus, Allison Vierus, Emily Vierus, Jacob Vierus, Michele Smith and husband Joel, Brandy Jackson and husband Toner; 7-great grandchildren; sisters Ella Mae Love and husband Eddie, Anntlee Goldberg and husband Wilburn “Butch”; brother Glenwood Vierus and wife Betty; special cousin Florence Raska; and special friend Diane Johnson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral service is Thursday, October 4 at 2 p.m. at Welcome Lutheran Church with Pastor David Klak officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
