Obituary

Lexa Jean Goddard, 95, of Brenham, passed away on November 27, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Her faith has taken her to a better place to be with her Lord and the love of her life, Rex.

A memorial service celebrating Lexa’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at the First Christian Church of Brenham.

Lexa was born on July 26, 1924, in Cotter, Arkansas, parents Walter and Elva (Pyle) Adams. She attended Carthage High School in Carthage, Missouri. On June 12, 1943, she was united in marriage to Rex Gilbert Goddard in Pampa, Texas. Lexa was a real life “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII, employed by Lockhead Airline building B-17s. Lexa and Rex were blessed with two children. Everywhere they lived, Lexa made long-standing friends.

Although in later years she was a housewife, she had plenty of community involvement to keep her busy. She was a hospital volunteer, PTA president, and Girl Scout Leader. She also found time for hobbies like golfing, bowling, dominoes, and reading. Lexa enjoyed traveling and visited many countries around the world.

Lexa was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Above all she was a devoted family woman and Christian.

Lexa is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Rex, as well as her sisters and brother.

Surviving loving family includes son Gil Goddard, daughter Lexa Oelze (husband Carl), seven grandchildren, Christine Thomas, Mike Goddard, Amy Niemann, Heather Aldis, Gretchen Raftelis, Josh Oelze, and Jarrod Oelze and 22 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the First Christian Church of Brenham.
